Payea Honored at ACT Banquet of Champions

The American-Canadian Tour (ACT) honored some of the top performers of the 2017 season at the ACT Banquet of Champions on Saturday, February 24. Drivers, car owners, crew members, and officials all gathered at the Capitol Plaza in Montpelier, VT to celebrate their accomplishments and officially wrap up the 32nd season of ACT competition.

Milton, VT’s Scott Payea, along with car owner Rick Paya, were officially recognized as the 2017 ACT Late Model Tour Champions. For Payea, it was a long-awaited first ACT championship, while the title marked Paya’s ninth in ACT competition.

ACT to Test Chevy 602 Engine in Select Events

American-Canadian Tour (ACT) officials have announced plans to test the Chevrolet CT350 “GM 602” crate engine in select events during the 2018 racing season. The results will be used to evaluate the engine for future use in ACT competition.

A car using the 350-horsepower GM 602 power plant will enter several ACT Late Model Tour events during the first part of the season. The testing will be performed by a team that does not normally compete on the Tour.

ACT Announces Point Fund Increase for 2018 Season

American-Canadian Tour (ACT) officials announced today that they have finalized the point fund for the 2018 ACT Late Model Tour season. A total of $40,750 has been posted in season-ending awards, a total increase of nearly $10,000 over the 2017 season.

The 2018 ACT Late Model Tour champion will receive the same $10,000 point fund award as they have in recent seasons. However, substantial increases have been posted for much of the top-10. Second place in the final standings for the upcoming season will receive $6,000, while the third-place finisher is slated to earn $4,500. Fourth and fifth place will collect $3,500 and $3,000, respectively.

ACT, Thunder Road Announce Supply Agreement Extension with American Racer

Officials at the American-Canadian Tour (ACT), Thunder Road, and American Racer Tires announced today they have reached a new agreement for American Racer to continue supplying racing tires to both the touring series and race track. The extension of their previous agreement ensures that American Racer will remain the ACT and Thunder Road tire supplier through the 2021 season.

ACT Appoints Knights as New Director of Competition

American-Canadian Tour (ACT) officials announced today that Pete Knights has been appointed as the new Director of Competition for the ACT Late Model Tour. Knights will replace Dean Gallison, who stepped down from the role following the 2017 racing season after 20 years with the organization. Gallison will remain as the Director of Competition at Barre’s Thunder Road Speedbowl.
