Entry Form Released for Icebreaker 125 at Thompson
Barre, VT and Naples, ME — The American-Canadian Tour (ACT) and Pro All Stars Series (PASS) have released the entry form for the Outlaw Open Modified Series Icebreaker 125 at Connecticut’s Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park on Sunday, April 3. The $10,000-to-win showdown is part of a two-day Icebreaker extravaganza to open the 83rd season of Thompson oval track racing.
For the second straight year, the Icebreaker 125 will pay $10,000 to win and $600 to start. Nearly $46,000 in total awards have been posted based on a 36-car starting field. Norwalk, CT’s Ron Silk brought home the five-figure top prize in 2021.
The entry fee for the Icebreaker 125 is $100 for entries postmarked by March 14. All entries sent after this date are $150. The first 26 teams that enter the Icebreaker 125 receive a garage stall for the weekend. Once these spots are filled, subsequent entries will go on a “wait list” in the order they were received. Stalls are non-transferable.
Tire strategy will again be a factor at the Icebreaker. Outlaw Open Modified teams may register up to eight race tires for the event — the four on the car on plus four “change tires”. Registered tires must be on the car in all qualifying events and the feature. These tires can only be purchased at the track though Hoosier Tire East. Apart from a fuel-only stop partway through the event, all pit stops will be live.
Optional open practice will be held on Friday, April 1 and Saturday, April 2. Teams are not required to attend either of these sessions. Final rotating practice is at 12:05pm on Sunday, April 3 with qualifying at 1:30pm and features to follow.
The Icebreaker 125 is the headliner of the annual Icebreaker event that dates to 1974. The Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Super Late Models spotlight the Saturday card with a 75-lap National Championship event. All five local Thompson Speedway divisions — the Sunoco Modifieds, Late Models, Limited Sportsmen, SK Light Modifieds, and Mini Stocks — are also confirmed for the Icebreaker.
The remainder of the Icebreaker division line-up will be announced soon along with the schedule of events and pricing. A live stream broadcast will be available on Racing America powered by Speed51.TV for those who can’t make it to Connecticut.
