Icebreaker 125 Postponed to Saturday April 9 Due to Rain Forecast
Thompson, CT — While Saturday’s Icebreaker festivities opened the New England racing season, the Tour-type Modifieds are going to have to wait one more week. With every weather forecasting outlet accessible to officials showing rain tomorrow afternoon, the decision has made to postpone Sunday’s Icebreaker 125 schedule to next Saturday, April 9.
Taking into consideration the aged surface and the cold weather making it nearly impossible to dry when the rain inevitably comes, the decision was made to keep both teams and fans from enduring a cold, wet waiting game.
“The decision to postpone an event is one of the most difficult decisions we have to make in this business,” said Thompson co-promoter Cris Michaud. “Both Tom [Mayberry] and I felt this was the best decision to alleviate a wasted day for both fans and our teams. We can’t wait to see you all next Saturday!”
Anyone who has purchased a combo, Saturday-Sunday General Admission ticket will be honored next Saturday. Anyone with the combo, two-day Pit Passes must keep them and, likewise, they will be honored for Saturday’s make up event. Anyone that is unable to come next Saturday is asked to contact the American-Canadian Tour offices in Barre, Vermont via phone or email for refunds.
Saturday, April 9th will feature the $10,000-to-win Icebreaker 125 for the Outlaw Open Modifieds along with the Thompson ACT-type Late Models, SK Lites and and Limited Sportsman. On Saturday, the gates will open at 9:00am and Post Time will remain at 1:00pm. All other information, including the morning’s practice schedule, will be released this week.
