Third Dash for Cash Signals Final Mid-Week Program of 2023 at Thompson Speedway
Barre, VT and Naples, ME — In the blink of an eye summer has come and gone as this Wednesday, September 13th is the final Wednesday night mid-week showdown of the 2023 season on the Thompson Speedway oval. Headlined by the Outlaw Open Modifieds for their third Dash for Cash of the season, the Street Stock Open 40 lap main event is also featured as a highlight on Wednesday’s schedule.
The final test and tune for the Tour-type Modifieds before the 61st Sunoco World Series of Speedway Racing features three days of Modified racing on Friday, October 6th through Sunday, October 8th. Already, Ronnie Williams has made it known that he intends to take his third Outlaw Open Modified win of the season on Wednesday while NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour rising star Austin Beers is looking to take on the 50-lap Dash. Chris Pasteryak, Brett Meservy, RJ Marcotte, Carl Medeiros and Teddy Hodgdon are also looking for the $5,000 grand prize on Wednesday.
Nick Johnson looks to add another Thompson Speedway Late Model championship trophy to his shelf but not if Matt Lowinski-Loh has anything to say about it. Just 16 points back with two events remaining this season at the Big-T, Lowinski-Loh took down August’s Late Model win and a strong come-back to the top spot is not out of the question for the Milford, Massachuestts driver.
The SK Light Modifieds have been putting on fiery competition each and every event this season. Alexander Pearl continues to ride his double wins on July’s Double Feature night atop the standings but Tyler Chapman is still very much in the hunt after winning last time out. Isaiah Newcomb, Meghan Fuller and Nick Hovey have both been strong all season long and look to break into a win this time around.
Ryan Waterman has taken over the point chase after claiming his second Limited Sportsman win of the season last time out while fellow two-time winner Corey Fanning has taken the other two victories this season. Fanning trails Waterman by just nine points in the championship chase. With the 40-lap Street Stock Open on the Wednesday schedule, many Limited Sportsman teams are expected to join the extra distance, extra money showdown including ‘Leadfoot’ Larry Barnett, Chris Buffone and Austin Flanagan.
Kevin Moore now leads the Mini Stock championship points as he looks to go back-to-back in the four-cylinder division with Jared Roy just nine points back. The two top dogs had quite a bit of drama last time out as we wait to see if their jets are cooled or ready to duke it out again on Wednesday.
The Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park oval is back in action for the final Wednesday night showdown of the season on September 13th. Wednesday, September 13th will feature the final $5,000-to-win, 50-lap Dash for Cash as the Thompson Outlaw Open Modifieds get one last crack at the highbanks before the 61st Sunoco World Series tour-modified trifecta on October 6th, 7th and 8th. The SK Light Modifieds, ACT-type Late Models, Limited Sportsman, and Mini Stocks will also join in along with the Open Street Stock 40-lap special!
