Seekonk Speedway’s Gerry DeGasparre Jr. and White Mountain Motorsports Park’s Alby Ovitt sit one-two as the top weekly American-Canadian Tour (ACT) Late Model racers of 2021 thus far.

East Providence, RI’s DeGasparre, a seven-time Seekonk Speedway champion, has led the NELMCC standings for five of the last six weeks. Raymond, NH’s Ovitt, an 8-cylinder Street Stock legend in his first full season running Late Models at White Mountain, was the only driver to interrupt that streak. Both remain players in the battle for a $5,000 top prize plus contingency awards from Port City Racecars/Crazy Horse Racing, Five Star Race Car Bodies, and ARBodies.

Hudson, NH — Candia, NH’s Jimmy Renfrew Jr. capped a perfect weekend on the racetrack with his first career ACT Late Model Tour victory on Sunday, June 20 at New Hampshire’s Hudson Speedway. Renfrew got the lead early and kept some of the best American-Canadian Tour (ACT) Late Model racers in the business at bay to score the Father’s Day win in a car owned by his dad James.

It was the fourth straight event where the ACT Late Model Tour had a first-time winner, bringing the series total to 82 different winners since its inception in 1992. For Renfrew, it came less than 24 hours after he triumphed in a 50-lap feature at White Mountain Motorsports Park.

Late Model Showdown Part of Busy Wednesday Racing Card at Thompson

Waterbury, VT and Naples, ME Some of the top local Late Model stars are expected on Wednesday, June 16 when Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park roars back to life for the second time this season. Although the special mid-week event will be headlined by the second round of the Outlaw Open Modified Series, with the Nutmeg State 75 presented by Twisted Tea worth $5,000 to the winner, the Late Models are one of five local divisions in action.

Competitors are set for a 25-lap feature in what will be a hotly contested battle. Some of the top drivers from the Icebreaker are expected back for another round. One of those drivers is Woody Pitkat, a multi-time Thompson Speedway champion who is no stranger to success over the last few years. Pitkat swept both races in the COVID-shortened 2020 season at the 0.625-mile oval, including the 50-lap World Series showdown where he took home $4,800 in purse and lap money.

Waterbury, VT — For the first time in nearly a month, the ACT New England Late Model Challenge Cup (NELMCC) has a new racer at the top of the standings. Raymond, NH’s Alby Ovitt now leads the pack as the weekly Late Model season ratchets up across the region.

Ovitt surged to the top of the heap after snagging his third podium finish of the year at New Hampshire’s White Mountain Motorsports Park on Saturday, June 5. The veteran came from 11th in a 25-car field to finish second, netting him 41 points under the unique Challenge Cup point system. It was Ovitt’s third outing of the season where he scored 40-plus points, giving him 165 total in 5 events.
