Seekonk Speedway Set as Sixth Track to Host Iconic Spring Green This Saturday Night

Barre, VT — One of the American-Canadian Tour’s cornerstone events, the iconic Spring Green, rolls off for the 48th time this Saturday night at Seekonk Speedway. Seekonk will serve as the sixth different host for the longtime ACT standard and could prove to be its most spectacular. In recent years, Seekonk has held the most hotly contested events on the circuit with spectacular duels to the finish line but this time an added challenge awaits the ACT stars as new pavement laid down in the corners of ‘The Cement Palace.’ The best of crew chiefs and drivers will have to come out as everyone looks to join the Spring Green wins list and jump forward in the Brookside Equipment Sales Southern New England Triple Crown point standings.

Starting off as the season-opener for the beloved Catamount Stadium in Milton, Vermont throughout the 1970s until the track’s final season in 1987, the Spring Green annually received its lap count based on the year it was held, a tradition continued in 2023. Over the years, the Spring Green has also been held at Sanair Super Speedway in Quebec, New York’s Airborne Speedway, Vermont’s Devil’s Bowl Speedway and, most recently, at New Hampshire’s White Mountain Motorsports Park.

Such icons as Dave Dion, Bobby and Beaver Dragon, Junior Hanley, Brian Hoar and Eddie MacDonald have stood in Spring Green victory lane, but Seekonk is a far different beast. With new pavement in the corners and worn asphalt on the straightaways, the Seekonk regulars may finally have the upper hand. In 17 ACT events since 1983, a Seekonk regular has yet to stand victorious in the winner’s circle but a strong NASCAR Advance Auto Parts weekly Late Model group, headed by 2022 track champion Mark Jenison, are all looking to crack into the wins list as the first.

In order to do so, the locals will have to tackle the likes of D.J. Shaw. The current leader of the ACT point standings, and defending champion, Shaw has made Seekonk his safety after taking a second-place finish in 2021 and a spectacular win over Jacob Burns in 2022 after eleven lead changes. Derek Gluchacki is in desperate need of a strong run after his motor expired at Lee USA Speedway with Jimmy Renfrew Jr., Gabe Brown, Jonathan Bouvrette, Cam Huntress and Jason Corliss all looking to continue their strong momentum.

The American-Canadian Tour returns to action at Seekonk Speedway in Seekonk, Massachusetts for the 48th Spring Green 123 on Saturday, June 3rd. One of Tour’s most iconic events gets its first try at ‘The Action Track of the East’ with the ACT stars going head-to-head with the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series Late Models in a classic early-summer battle! The Spring Green 123 also serves as Round #2 of the Brookside Equipment Sales Southern New England Triple Crown. The Seekonk Pro Stocks will also be in action for the Scully Memorial 55 plus the Helger’s South Coast Power Equipment Sportsman and the Chaz Auto Body Sport Trucks. Post Time is set for 6:00pm.
